Media’s Fair Trade Town Committee, Town Talk Invite Public to Submit

Photos for The “Media: My Fair Trade Home Photo Contest"

Prizes Include 18-Speed Mountain Bike, Media Theatre Tickets and More

Media, PA (February 18, 2010) -  Media PA’s Fair Trade Town Committee and Town Talk newspapers invite interested people from the region to enter the “Media...My Fair Trade Home Photo Contest.”  Between now and May 1, 2010, interested individuals over the age of 18 can visit Media and snap photographs that reflect what they love most about Media - a popular Fair Trade destination and America’s First Fair Trade Town. 

 

All photographs can be submitted via email to:  foundation@untours.com.  

In addition, 8” by 10” photos can be mailed to:

To be considered, all entries must reflect the contest theme by featuring a popular Media Fair Trade location, business or store owner, Fair Trade products, or people enjoying FT products. May 1, 2010 is the entry deadline, and all entries will be judged by a panel of Media businesspeople and Fair Trade Town Committee members.

Beginning March 1, the First Prize Mountain Bike will be on display, along with contest details, at the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union on State Street in Media.  Individuals are encouraged to visit http://firstfairtradetownusa.org for a complete list of Media’s Fair Trade products and destinations and to read Town Talk newspapers for more information.  


Contest Winners will be announced this July during Media’s Bastille Day festivities.   The Grand Prize is an 18-speed, full-suspension Mountain Bike; and other prizes include A Media Theatre Night Out (Two Tickets & Dinner in Media); A Basket Full of Fair Trade Goodies; and a generous supply of Hal's Blend Coffee.

Close to thirty Media businesses now offer Fair Trade products – ranging from beverages, chocolate and produce to flowers, beautiful craft items and sports equipment - including Earth & State, Coffee Beanery, Coffee Club Café,  Lotus and Selene Whole Foods Coop and many, many more.  For more information, please visit http://firstfairtradetownusa.org/.

Always ask if is ok to take photographs – Everyone has different policies surrounding photographs. Always respect the individual businesses' preferences on photography. Some businesses may not allow photographs inside the store, some may limit what you may photograph, and some may require an appointment to take photographs. Please ask!

All photos must be the original work of the entrants and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity, or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity.

By submitting your images, you grant The Media Fair Trade Committee the right to use, publish or disseminate any of your images in print and/or on our website, online publications, email newsletters or in any other manner we desire without compensation.

Media, PA became the first Fair Trade Town in the USA in June  2006, and has since inspired twelve other US towns to follow suit. Together, we are raising awareness of how the simple purchase of Fair Trade products can help to address poverty in the developing world.
