Day 7, Feb. 4

They started out with a very nice presentation from Natalia who coordinates with Earthwatch Institute to get volunteers that help with field research by taking soil samples and analyzing and reporting the results. This scientific method is very important in helping coffee growers increase their yields and quality. They practice agroecology focusing on soil and water in the coffee production. they use worm composting for the waste, shade trees for biodiversity and GIS mapping so farmers can get another perspective of what their farms look like. They also train people at neighboring co-ops, run workshops for farmers, created a registry log book to help farmer's keep records and software to analyse their soil data.
