Fair Trade in Media Elementary SchoolOn September 23, 2010, several volunteers from the America's First Fair Trade Town Committee spent time with 3 third grade classes (around 8 years old) at Media Elementary School teaching them about Fair Trade. They used Equal Exchange's Fair Trade Curriculum and did a role play exercise where students acted as cocoa farmers and found out how hard it is for conventional family farmers and how much better it is for Fair Trade farmers. We thank school principle, Maria Kotch and school district superintendent, Denise Kerr, for the opportunity and hope to expand into other classes and other schools. |
