Media is becoming a Twin Town, (which is the British term for "Sister City"), with Garstang, England, the World's First Fair Trade Town. Garstang provided the spark and guidance for Media to become the First Fair Trade Town in the Americas.
Garstang is already a Twin Town with the Fair Trade cocoa community of New Koforidua, Ghana, which grows cocoa for the popular Divine chocolate bars. Garstang, New Koforidua, and Media make up a modern Fair Trade Triangle link that replaces the infamous slave trade triangle between England, Ghana, and the US. This shows positive action today that goes some way to redress the actions of the past.
Media has sent "ambassadors" to Garstang, and we look forward to lots of visitor exchanges within this Fair Trade Triangle.
